The internet is boundless and far-reaching. You can find just about anything you want. If you have a particular interest or area of expertise, then why not do what thousands of others are doing and make a website to showcase your talent? If your niche subject is of particular interest to others, you will find your blog site (given the right exposure) will soon start to see visits from similarly interested people.

Generating traffic for your website is valuable. You can “monetize” your site by selling a product or service yourself, or by simply allowing some space on your site for advertising. If you only want certain companies to advertise on your site, then you can approach an affiliate ad provider, where you can sign up as a publisher and select which adverts you want to appear on your site. If the companies you choose wish to place their adverts on your pages, then you will be offered a small piece of code that you need to place on your site which will show an advert when someone visits your website.

If on the other hand you don’t care who advertises on your blog, then you can choose a more automated advertising service (such as Google’s Adsense).
By allowing people to advertise on your blog, you will make free money every time someone clicks on the ads, or makes a purchase from those advertisers etc. The more popular your blog, the more cash you can make, but don’t overdo it on the ads. Some people do not like seeing a page full of adverts and may navigate away from your pages because of it.

There are many blogging services available such as blogger.com or WordPress (my personal favourite because not only is it free, but there are literally thousands of ready made add-ons and themes for you to download to tailor your blog to just the way you like it). Just do a search for “How to make a blog” and you will have more information than you will ever need to get your home business going. Once your blog is live, keep it fresh with lots of new and unique relevant content, then drive visitors to your site to start making money. Get creative with advertising your blog. Here are some ideas to get you started: Make a video and post it on youtube (include a link to your site in the description box). Create a Squidoo or Hubpages page with links to your blog. Join up with forums and link back to your blog in your sig. Submit your blog to search engines. Write related articles and post to related blogs (with hyperlinks back to your blog in the text). Most important of all is HAVE FUN!
